International Trip Insurance is More Important Than Ever Before

Insurance coverage for international trips is more important than ever before. As spiraling world events occur, its important that nonprofit organizations and churches who do mission work abroad have proper insurance coverage for their volunteers and employees. Learn more about international insurance coverage and read about the below events which show heightened risk for international travelers.

Air Algerie Flight AH5017

A few weeks ago, an Air Algerie flight crashed in Mali, killing all 118 passengers. It was later determined that extremely bad weather brought the plane down. The original black box recording was damaged and the second was brought to France to be analyzed. Sadly, this is not the only recent story of downed aircraft. A few weeks before the crash in Mali, a Malaysian Airlines flight was shot down over Ukraine. With all of the political turmoil going on in the country, it is still difficult for crews to get to the crash site.

Ebola Outbreak
Another story that is sweeping the world is the recent outbreak of the Ebola virus in West Africa. Since its discovery in 1976, Ebola has had several outbreaks. The same tactics were taken to contain and eliminate the virus in those areas every time. But since the initial reaction to the recent outbreak was very slow and weak, so it was able to spread more than its previous attempts. Because of this, Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia have been quarantined where the three sections meet. Medical aid and other supplies are still aloud to be brought into the countries.

Israel Bombing
The turmoil does not end there. The ongoing problems between Israel and Gaza have once again flared into fighting. Both sides are launching rockets and fighting each other, with civilians dying on both sides of the front. This battle is just as much a military affair as a public relations affair. Unfortunately, innocent people are caught up in this war which has no real light at the end of the tunnel. News organizations from around the world are covering this story and each one has its own opinion, so it is hard to find an unbiased story of what is really going on.

No matter where in the world you go, and no matter how good the intentions are, things can still go wrong. Bad things can happen. You need to be prepared to pay for the expenses if something happens. All organizations should have international insurance coverage  just in case the worst happens.
